Facelift Surgery
Few facial plastic surgery procedures have stood the test of time as well as traditional facelift surgery has. Performed in our Philadelphia-area office in Media, Pennsylvania near Delaware (and local hospitals and surgicenters), a facelift can tighten loose, sagging skin, muscles, and jowls. During the procedure, incisions are made just below the hairline, in natural creases in front of the ears, in the creases behind the ears and down the hairline behind the ear. After the incision is made, he removes excess skin, fat, and tissue that cause wrinkles on the face. He also tightens facial muscles, which results in noticeably less sagging of facial skin. After repositioning the skin and placing sutures, Dr. Pontell wraps the treated area in bandages.
Recovery after facelift surgery is usually two weeks or less. There will be some swelling, numbness, and discoloration of the skin following surgery. The head should be kept still and elevated for the first five days. Stitches are removed within the first ten days after surgery.

Mini-Facelift
A mini-facelift is a shorter, simpler alternative to a full facelift. Performed under local anesthesia, the mini lift tightens loose skin around the jowls, cheeks, and neck without requiring the patient to undergo major surgery. Unlike the traditional facelift, the mini facelift is performed frequently in our Philadelphia-area office; the mini facelift also requires fewer incisions and less healing time than a conventional facelift procedure.
Reverse Mid-Face Lift Surgery

Neck Lift Surgery
This "turkey wattle," as it is known by some, can be caused by weight loss or aging. It can also be caused by weakened facial and neck muscles. Neck lift surgery will tighten that excess skin that hangs below the chin. Neck lift surgery will take about an hour to complete; however, it may take longer if you choose to have other facial cosmetic procedures performed at the same time. A brow lift, eyelid surgery, chin augmentation, or another facial cosmetic surgery procedure can be performed in conjunction with a neck lift for a more comprehensive makeover. Many patients choose to undergo a neck lift to address excess skin and fat that hangs below the jaw line.
Although each patient's procedure is tailored to fit his or her needs, most surgeries are similar. Dr. Pontell makes a small incision under the chin. After removing excess fatty tissue, and tightening the facial and neck muscles, Dr. Pontell reattaches the skin with sutures. The neck will appear slimmer and more youthful, as the skin will adhere more closely to the neck's contours.
Recovery after neck lift surgery takes two weeks or less. Your neck will be swollen, and bruising is possible. After healing is complete, the skin of the neck will be tighter, and the entire neck and face will appear younger.
