Restylane® and Juvederm™
Restylane® and Juvederm™ are injectable soft tissue fillers used in facial wrinkle treatments, as well as for lip augmentation. At our Media, Pennsylvania office, near Delaware and the Philadelphia Main Line suburbs, we primarily use Restylane® and/or Juvederm™ for lip enhancement. Comprised of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body, both Restylane® and Juvederm™ add volume to the lips with results that last for up to six months. Treatment poses little risk for allergic reactions in patients who are sensitive to animal by-products. Restylane® and Juvederm™ can be injected in a short 15 to 30 minute procedure to produce results that are visible immediately and that last for up to one year. Because Restylane® and Juvederm™ also work as effective wrinkle treatments, many of our patients undergo Restylane® or Juvederm™ injections around the eyes, mouth, or forehead to improve the appearance of the entire face in one appointment.
Vermillion Lip Advancement Technique
Vermillion lip advancement is a surgical procedure that increases the size of the pink part of the lips (the "vermillion"). In this lip augmentation procedure, Dr. Pontell makes an incision around the outside of the lips. He removes a small portion of skin around the border of the vermillion. By stretching the vermillion, and suturing it to the skin, the lips appear larger. Additionally, unlike the results attained through treatment with injectable fillers such as Restylane® or Juvederm™, the results of this type of lip augmentation procedure are permanent.
